Freight forwarder expertise — applied to domestic auto

Most domestic auto shippers are brokers — they take your booking and hand it off to a carrier you’ve never vetted. Viamar is different. As a CIFFA and FIATA certified freight forwarder since 1976, we apply the same coordination discipline we use for international shipping to every domestic car move. We work with a vetted network of licensed Canadian auto transport carriers, coordinate pickup from our Courtice warehouse or your door, and give you one point of contact for the entire move — from condition report to final delivery sign-off.

How we ship your vehicle

Matched to your vehicle type, your route, and your service needs.

Open Transport

Multi-car carrier, standard method for most vehicles. Most suitable for everyday passenger vehicles. Best fit for most routes.

Enclosed Transport

Fully enclosed trailer for luxury, classic, and exotic vehicles. Maximum protection from weather and road debris. Recommended for high-value cars.

Door-to-Door

Pickup from your address. Delivery to the destination address. Most convenient service — carrier access permitting. Available on most routes.

Terminal Service

Drop at our Courtice warehouse or destination terminal. Added scheduling flexibility for customers with flexible timelines. Best for flexible timing.

How it works

1

Get a quote

Tell us your route, vehicle type, and pickup preference. We confirm service details and available dates within one business day.

2

Condition report

Vehicle condition documented at pickup. Signed Bill of Lading. Pre-existing damage noted and photographed before it moves.

3

In transit

Your vehicle moves with a vetted carrier. Viamar coordinates logistics and keeps you informed on shipment status.

4

Delivery & sign-off

Delivered to your door or destination terminal. Final condition inspection and sign-off. One point of contact throughout — Viamar.

Not a broker

We coordinate your shipment directly. We don’t auction your car to the lowest bidder on a dispatch load board — you get a vetted carrier, not a surprise.

Courtice warehouse

Drop your vehicle at our facility in Courtice (Durham Region) for flexible staging — useful when your move-out and move-in dates don’t align.

50 years of trust

Family-owned since 1976. CIFFA and FIATA certified. You work with a company that has handled cargo across 250+ international ports.

Combine with household goods

Moving your car and household goods? Viamar coordinates both under one booking — auto carrier for the vehicle, container for the household. Ask about combined planning.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between open and enclosed car transport?
Open transport uses multi-car carriers where vehicles are loaded exposed to weather — it’s the standard method for most passenger vehicles. Enclosed uses a covered trailer for full weather and road debris protection, recommended for luxury vehicles, classics, and exotics.
How far in advance do I need to book?
For most routes, 5–10 business days of lead time is sufficient for open transport. Enclosed transport and long routes (Toronto–Vancouver) benefit from 10–14 days, especially in peak moving season (May–September). We recommend booking as early as possible to lock in your preferred pickup date.
Is my car insured during transport?
All licensed auto transport carriers in Canada carry cargo insurance as required by provincial transport regulations. Viamar documents your vehicle’s condition at pickup with a signed Bill of Lading and photographs. Additional cargo insurance is available for high-value vehicles — ask at time of quote.
Can you ship motorcycles, trucks, and SUVs?
Yes. We ship standard passenger cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, minivans, and motorcycles. Oversized vehicles, RVs, and heavy equipment require special arrangements — call us to discuss requirements and get an accurate quote.
Can I ship my car and household goods together?
Yes. Viamar handles both under a single booking. Your vehicle ships on an auto transport carrier on the same timeline as your container shipment, with Viamar coordinating both. See our cross-Canada moving page for household goods options.
